Responsibilities

Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies
Provide supervision of other staff
Prepare patient equipment for testing
Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures
Perform and document testing per lab protocols
Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues
Assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports
Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing
Determine and report needed repairs/replacements
Maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT)
Honor certifications obtained through the American Board of Sleep Medicine until credentials through the BPRT are obtained

Required

High School Diploma/GED is required
Requires 1-3 years of experience
Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies

Preferred

Associate's Degree is preferred
