Mammography Technologist I (up to 19 hrs/wk; work at all campuses as needed for coverage)
The University of Texas Medical Branch is a healthcare organization seeking a Mammography Technologist I. This role involves independently performing screening and diagnostic mammographic exams, assisting physicians, and ensuring patient safety and care standards are met.

Responsibilities
Promotes a positive work environment
Collaborates with all members of the patient care team
Proactive in responding to patient needs
Optimizes protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, collimation, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and appropriate use of lead shielding
Assists physicians during procedures, including assisting with sterile technique
Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level
Performs screening, diagnostic, breast intervention and bone densitometry procedures to include common & special exams of moderate complexity
Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly
Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures
Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies
Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects
Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends
Performs imaging equipment quality control (QC) at required intervals to ensure all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use
Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate
Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered

Required
Associates of Applied Science
Graduate of an accredited Radiography Program
8 hours initial digital training
8 hours initial tomosynthesis training

American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-R)
American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-M)
Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)
American Heart Association (BLS)
