Responsibilities
Provide primary and specialty care to adult patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and infectious diseases
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans
Coordinate care with other medical providers, nurses, pharmacists, and behavioral health professionals
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and procedures
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in accordance with IHS policies
Educate patients on preventive health measures, wellness, and chronic disease management
Participate in community outreach and culturally relevant health education efforts
May be required to provide on-call coverage or assist in emergency care situations as needed
Qualification
Required
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
DEA License and ability to prescribe controlled substances
BLS and ACLS certifications (must be current)
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
Knowledge of or willingness to learn and respect the customs, traditions, and beliefs of American Indian and Alaska Native populations
Must pass a federal background check and obtain favorable adjudication
Preferred
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience preferred; experience in tribal or rural settings is a strong plus
