Supervisor, Source Inspection

Responsibilities
Owns program to evaluate conformity of purchased parts to purchase order requirements by verifying supplier-provided documentation, checking parts for damage, correct part numbers, revisions, quantities, trace information, etc
Assists in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions, communicating changes to the source inspection team and suppliers, and ensuring adherence to the updated procedures/work instructions
Develops and implements changes in working conditions and procedures to increase safety, reliability, and efficiency
Spends ~25% of time with suppliers to understand the work environment, and drive process improvements within their inspections and source inspection
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems; supports conflict resolution with suppliers
Interfaces with Procurement, SCE team, Production and other cross-functional teams to understand key priorities, quality challenges and actively directs inspection support accordingly
Interfaces with suppliers and internal SpaceX stakeholders to resolve problems related to product and documentation conformance, corrective action compliance and procedures/work instructions
Leads cross functional discussions on inspection operations, as well as supports inspection program process development
Supports, maintains, and effectively communicates the program metrics and objectives to the team and stakeholders
Performs supervisor duties with timecards, training, audits, procedure creation and performance reviews
Balances business priorities to schedule remotely based source inspection resources effectively
Works with leadership, source inspectors, and human resources to resolve issues
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree OR 4+ years of experience in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing or quality assurance
1+ years of experience leading people, teams, or technical projects
Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted
Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying may be required to perform the functions of this position
Valid driver's license is mandatory and ability to travel to supplier sites as needed – up to 25%
Position may involve long hours, and weekend work as needed
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and evaluate inspection trends, team performance, and supplier metrics
Experience in a direct management role
Ability to understand basic purchase orders (PO) quality requirements, their intent, and how supplied documentation meets these requirements
Leadership skills and experience in project management
Technical problem-solving skills and strong communication skills
Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency
Computer literacy including ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection tools and methods
ISO 9001/AS9100/9102 (first article inspection) experience
Lean/6-Sigma or other formal continuous improvement experience
