Shift Manager, Games-Ex
Colonial Downs Group is an inclusive and fun workplace that operates several brands across Virginia. The Shift Manager, Games-Ex is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the gaming department, ensuring compliance and profitability while managing staff and guest interactions.

Responsibilities
Assists in the process of hiring, training, development, and efficient management of the gaming operations staff
Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments as well as trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff
Maintains department standards, guidelines, and objectives, and oversees other administrative processes, such as staffing and payroll
Positively affects interactions with guests and co-workers and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work effectively and courteously with fellow Team Members to extend to other departments
Has knowledge of all HHR machines on the gaming floor and can determine proper payouts
Surveys and evaluates the gaming floor to adjust staffing levels to better serve the guest
Communicates with other department managers for situations that may arise and provides excellent guest service to guests and any needs they may have
Assists with scheduling training classes, issuing memos, maintaining payroll records for all department team members, providing pertinent information to all direct reports
Completes all reports and projects delegated by the Gaming Operations Manager for projects
Ensures that all jackpot transactions are completed accurately, and that jackpot slips and payment procedures are compliant with departmental internal controls and are completed within a reasonable amount of time
Ensures that all department paperwork and data entry is entered and completed correctly and that all forms have the required signatures. Documents may include but are not limited to, jackpot slips, appropriate tax documents, and guest claim forms
Ensures that all HHR machines are functioning properly and are available for play of guests
Knowledgeable of all Virginia Racing Commission rules and regulations
Takes appropriate action based on observations, as directed, or established by the company policy, procedures, or Virginia Racing Commission regulations
Maintains knowledge of gaming laws/racing regulations, and company policies to ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent guest service and interpersonal skills
Conflict resolution and mediation skills
Strong and accurate money handling skills
Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of gaming regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years or more in a supervisory position is required in a high volume, complex environment
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license
The Team Member will be required to stand and walk the duration of the shift
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
The Team Member may be required to lift up to 50 pounds
The Team Member may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, flashing lights, and secondhand smoke, depending on the assigned station and guest volume
