The role involves assisting in the installation of water, sewer, and drainage systems while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities
Assist in the excavation process by trenching and shoring to prepare the work area for pipe installation
Handle and position pipes and other materials, ensuring they are in the correct location for installation
Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, creating a safe working environment and complying with regulatory requirements
Operate equipment as required, such as forklifts or other machinery, to support pipe handling and installation
Assist in the inventory management of materials and supplies required for the project, including ordering, tracking, and reporting
Support the installation of underground utility systems, ensuring work meets project standards, blueprints, and design specifications
Collaborate effectively with the pipe crew, Pipe Crew Foreman, and other team members to complete tasks efficiently
Maintain effective communication with team members and supervisors, reporting progress, challenges, and equipment issues as needed
Maintain accurate records, including daily work logs, equipment usage reports, safety documentation, and project reports
Identify and address operational challenges or issues that may arise during underground utility installation
Qualification
Required
Proven experience as a Hillman or Tailman in the underground utility construction industry
Familiarity with trenching and shoring techniques
Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety protocols and procedures
Proficiency in material handling and equipment operation
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at different job sites as required
Candidates that accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination
