Diagnostic Xray Technologist 1 - FMC

Responsibilities

Obtains patient history
Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention
Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure
Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines
Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion
Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures
Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies
Maintains infection prevention standards
Explains standard procedures and answers patients questions
Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment
Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required

Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals
Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment
Responsible for appropriate set up of the x-ray room and manipulation of equipment, and proper placement of patient for procedure
Ensure proper image capture of skeletal structure requested for diagnosis and treatment purposes
Process and develops exposed x-ray film and creates x-ray CD copies for review and interpretation
Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service
Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research
Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students
Works with peers and other health care providers. Participates in ongoing in-service and educational seminars
Participates in orienting, assisting, mentoring and education of colleagues and students
Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility
If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates
Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame
Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner

Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology - Required
Current Radiologic Technologist certification ® with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Required
AZDHS Certified Radiologic Technologist - Required upon date of hire
BLS (American Heart Assoc.) - Required
Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire
Fingerprint clearance card required within 90 days from date of hire
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader

Preferred

One year experience in Diagnostic Radiology - Preferred
