Patient Care Tech - Float Pool PT nights
Torrance Memorial is a healthcare organization seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Float Pool during night shifts. The technician will provide direct patient care, transport services, and general support duties under the direction of an RN, ensuring adherence to care standards and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN
Transport patients and provide general support duties
Demonstrate competency in populations served and interpersonal communication
Implement the patient care plan using AIDET during all forms of communication
Perform purposeful hourly rounding and document actions or observations
Answer telephone and patient call system promptly and courteously
Orient/instruct patient/family regarding the physical environment and procedures
Inventory and document patient belongings in the medical record
Receive report from the RN before beginning assignment
Inform RN of new or unfamiliar condition changes and establish patient care priorities
Prepare room for admission, ensuring cleanliness and restocking supplies
Maintain a safe working environment and ensure unit equipment is in good working order
Assist in maintaining a well-functioning unit by ordering appropriate supplies
Understand role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only
Utilize safe patient handling techniques and verify patient identity
Adhere to infection prevention guidelines and perform hand hygiene
Perform vital signs per physician order or unit policy and notify RN of any changes
Assist patients and families, referring questions to the RN for follow-up
Apply and monitor oxygen as directed by the RN
Assist with postoperative coughing, turning, and deep breathing
Collect specimens as instructed and perform point of care testing
Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, setting up equipment and stocking supplies
Assist with treatments as directed by RN and apply EKG leads to patients
Document accurately on intake and output sheets for assigned shift
Report any problems with equipment to the house supervisor
Assist with transfers ensuring secure and complete transfer of patients
Transport deceased patients to the morgue and participate in emergency response situations
Qualification
Required
CNA certification
Successful completion of first semester enrolled in RN program or a graduate from a RN Program and awaiting next in-house New Grad Residency Program application process
Current certification as National Registry EMT or LA County EMT
Current paramedic license issued by the State of California EMS Authority (EMSA)
Certified Medical Assistant
BCLS or ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire from the American Heart Assoc
