5+ years expPACO Group, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Geotechnical Inspector for the AirTrain Newark Project. This role focuses on construction oversight and QA/QC of deep foundations, ensuring compliance with load capacities and maintaining detailed documentation of field activities.

Responsibilities
Inspect and monitor pile driving operations, including:
Counting and recording blow counts
Verifying pile depth, alignment, hammer energy, and final set
Ensuring compliance with required load capacities
Observe drilled shaft, caisson, and foundation installations: slurry/casing operations, reinforcement placement, and concrete pours
Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation, including pile logs, blow count sheets, daily reports, photographs, and test records
Liaise with the Engineer of Record / Professional Engineer responsible for certifying pile load capacity, providing complete inspection data for certification
Review drawings, geotechnical recommendations, and project specifications; ensure contractor compliance in the field
Witness and document materials testing: soil density, moisture content, compaction, and concrete testing (slump, air, cylinders)
Report non-conformance items and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and client representatives on corrective actions
Monitor compliance with safety requirements and agency standards
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical and foundation inspection on large transportation, aviation, or heavy civil projects
Demonstrated experience working on projects with agencies such as the Port Authority of NY & NJ, MTA, Amtrak, FAA, or similar public sector clients
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent inspection experience will be considered
Strong technical knowledge of deep foundation methods, excellent field documentation, clear communication, and proven ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred
NICET Level III/IV in Geotechnical Engineering Technology or Construction Inspection
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant standards
OSHA 10/30 safety training
