Responsibilities
Serving customers as technical resource in the development of systems hardware and software solutions
Working with our Remote Automation Solutions (RAS), Reliability and Process Systems & Solutions (PSS) departments and products
Interacting with customers in manufacturing facilities and serving different industries including chemical, power generation, refining, oil & gas, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and water
Being an integral part of Engineering consulting with customers as part of Outside Sales team
Proactively working to help develop and support the account strategies led by our Account Managers, through knowledge of the customer’s technical requirements, purchasing history and processes
Working directly with customers as a key liaison to build and maintain relationships through understanding technical challenges and proposing solutions
Directly impacting sales revenue through understanding sale cycles and participating in direct follow up with procurement, plant maintenance, plant engineers, and consulting engineers
Building a strong understanding of the customers’ business, industry best practices, Emerson’s technology portfolio, and value statements for our solutions, effectively communicating this value to generate profit for both the customer and Experitec
Working with Account Managers, Customer Service, Order Management, factory personnel, direct team members and other departments to provide a no-equal customer experience
Managing workload by setting expectations with customers and prioritizing work based on customer level, situation, and input from Account Managers
Proactively communicating with the internal and external partners to keep everyone aware of status as it relates to proposals
Work with customers and internal resources to understand the technical application needs of the customer and address them with a blend of our hardware and software offerings to create an effective solution to their requirements
Learn the capabilities of all Emerson Automation Solutions and third-party products in order to provide a solution
Work with customers on technical specifications and provide comments regarding acceptance, exception, or clarifications to those specifications
Providing knowledge of customer applications and knowledge of RAS, Reliability and PSS products and services to provide automation solutions to customers
Proactively communicating quotation activity with Account Managers, Project Pursuit Leads, and Sales Management
Collaborating with the team to develop the best hardware and software product solution for success
Drafting proposal documents for the team including Bill of Materials, supporting comments, and System Architecture Drawings
Collaborating with Sales, Order Execution, Warehousing, and Engineering to develop and deliver value to our customers
Recommending, proposing and providing complete automation solutions to our customers
Achieving technical knowledge depth in the hardware and software products and services we deploy at the customer site
Actively participating in project pursuit teams to provide technical knowledge and leadership for individual opportunities
Developing a rapport with our fellow associates as a team to get the job done
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
One or more years of industrial or technical work experience
One or more years of customer service experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook email, and basic computer skills
Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a business system
Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional additional hours as needed. After completing up to 6 months of training, employees are eligible to transition to a hybrid schedule, which includes working onsite at least 3 days per week and remotely up to 2 days per week
Ability to lead projects from inception to completion
Ability to utilize personal vehicle for the majority of work travel AND ability to rent a car when requested for work travel
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time which may include overnight stays during half of the travel time
Ability to drive for the company with a valid driver's license and the ability to pass driving record background check
Ability to independently travel domestically as needed for training opportunities which may include some overnights
Ability to wear PPE as appropriate for potential environmental hazards
Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and ability to collaborate with team to utilize suggestions and input for success
Strong attention to detail with the ability to actively solve problems and utilize critical thinking as situations evolve
Flexible, assertive, stress-tolerant, and optimistic mindset, with a willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements and deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally and build consensus to expedite solutions
Proactive and self-motivated with strong organizational skills, ability to independently manage workload and set priorities effectively
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
Degree in Engineering or a closely related field
Five or more years of experience with data entry into a business system
Five or more years of industrial or technical work experience
Two or more years of customer service experience
Two or more years of project management
Military experience
Experience in instrumentation, manufacturing, and/or process control industries
Two or more years of experience collaborating with engineers
