They are seeking an NDE Research Engineer to conduct independent research on nondestructive evaluation methods and artificial intelligence applications for highway infrastructure assessments.

Responsibilities
Conducting independent research using various NDE methods for condition assessments of highway infrastructure assets, including bridges, pavements, and tunnels
Preparing reports, conference papers, and journal articles based on research results
Presenting research findings to internal and external stakeholders
Collaborating with internal and external collaborators on NDE-related research
Responsible for the timely delivery of project milestones
Qualification
Required
An earned master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Effective verbal, presentation, and writing skills to convey research results to diverse audiences
Familiar with thermal, acoustic, and electromagnetic methods in NDE, such as infrared tomography, impact echo, ground penetrating radar, etc
Preferred
An earned Ph.D. in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence, e.g., reinforcement learning, in NDE/SM
Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Bridge and CMP load rating
Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Advanced numerical simulation (e.g., finite element) methods
Records of technical publications
