Engineering Instructor- Part-time (Pool)

Central Ohio Technical College is seeking a part-time Engineering Instructor to join their faculty. The role involves delivering high-quality instruction, developing engaging lesson plans, and fostering a supportive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with course objectives and institutional standards
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning
Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning, to accommodate various learning styles
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation
Serve as an academic resource for students, offering guidance on coursework, study strategies, and academic progress
Encourage student engagement through active discussions, collaborative projects, and real-world applications of course material
Be available for student inquiries and provide office hours or virtual support as needed
Promote an inclusive classroom environment that values individual differences and mutual respect
Model professional behavior and ethical conduct in interactions with students, colleagues, and staff
Uphold academic integrity and encourage a culture of honesty and accountability
Address student concerns with empathy and professionalism while adhering to institutional policies
Support and contribute to a positive, respectful college community that enhances the overall student experience

Required

Must reside in the state of Ohio
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in manufacturing engineering, electromechanical engineering, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field; OR a bachelor's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline
In some cases, an associate degree combined with relevant work experience, professional licensure/certifications, or demonstrated competencies may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
Strong communication skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff
Willingness to utilize various instructional methods, including email and online learning management systems
Commitment to student success, engagement, and empowerment in their learning journey
Alignment with COTC's mission, values, and objectives
Successful completion of a background check is required

Preferred

A master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in an engineering-related field or education
Previous teaching experience, curriculum development, and assessment experience
For Advanced Manufacturing Technology courses: Working knowledge of manual and CNC machinery, precision assembly, and multi-craft maintenance
Prior experience in manufacturing
