Sr. Tooling Engineer, Can Stamping

Responsibilities
Drive ramp of production lines by characterizing baseline performance and capability of each system and drive actions to maintain or improve performance as measured by product quality and tool availability
Analyze production with statistical software to understand manufacturing uptime, availability, and yield, OEE, quality and investigate bottlenecks to identify root cause and countermeasure to maximize throughput
Optimize specialized equipment such as progression die presses and coil feed presses for high-volume can forming, drawing on best practices from related industries like beverage manufacturing
Collaborate with Controls Engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and optimize processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software
Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, and spare parts
Qualification
Required
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
Previous experience in metal stamping, forming, Tool & Die manufacturing or a related industry is highly desirable e.g. beverage can and bottle
Knowledge of transfer and progressive dies, coil fed presses, and related equipment for efficient, high-speed production lines
Expertise in steel metal forming, including material handling, lubrication, and defect prevention techniques
Extensive proficiency with 3D and 2D design software such as SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Inventor, AutoCAD, etc
Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively bend, lift, and reach to interact with equipment
Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection, bump cap, while adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
Preferred
Experience in the beverage can and bottle industry, with expertise in high-precision metal forming is highly desirable to innovate and optimize these critical processes
