Intern - Geotechnical Engineering (Summer)
The State of South Dakota's Department of Transportation is seeking motivated Geotechnical Engineering interns for the summer session. Interns will assist professional staff with data collection and analysis from geotechnical investigations, gaining hands-on experience in both field and office settings.

Responsibilities
Assist professional staff with the collection and analysis of data obtained from geotechnical investigations and instrumentation throughout the state
Collect and interpret instrumentation data
Assist drill crews with soil borings, field testing, and soil sampling
Conduct geophysical investigations
Perform lab testing
Draft technical documents
Engage in technical communication
Participate in construction inspections and geohazard evaluation
Qualification
Required
Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester
Pursuing a degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
Should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program by the start of the internship
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
South Dakota residents
Students of South Dakota institutions
Knowledge of South Dakota geology and geotechnical engineering principles
