Network Engineer - Wireless
Trace Systems Inc. is dedicated to supporting and defending national security interests. They are seeking a Network Engineer - Wireless to support the Norfolk Naval Shipyard CIO department, focusing on managing and optimizing network infrastructure to ensure Navy Fleet readiness.

Responsibilities
Provide supplemental support and oversight for the development, configuration, management and administration of all Information Technology (IT) network infrastructure and appliances used at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and its satellite locations
Provide advanced support for networks, including routing, switching, security, and troubleshooting wired and wireless network infrastructure. Provide an in-depth knowledge of network technologies, services, and protocols to manage and optimize networks
Provide advanced expertise in configuring, troubleshooting, and managing Cisco wireless networks with an understanding of quality of service, multicast, advanced location services, security, and monitoring. Provide support in designing, deploying, and configuring wireless local area network controllers, access points, and related infrastructure
Support the installation of networking components, including endpoint devices, in designated areas which include the controlled industrial area. Ensure compliance with safety regulations that ensure personnel and material security
Implement and managing wireless security features like IEEE 802.1x, Cisco Identify Services, Engine, and other security protocols to protect client connectivity. Diagnose and resolve network issues such as connectivity problems, signal interface, and performance bottlenecks
Provide a strong understanding of networking, computer, storage, automation, and security technologies. Demonstrate understanding of storage area networks, routing, switching protocols, and protocols like BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN. Understand cloud service models, software updates, and network performance. Manage, operate, and support Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections in WAN/LAN environment
Design, configure, implement, and troubleshoot network hardware, including routers, switches, access points, network appliances, and firewalls. Design, configure, implement, and troubleshoot network appliances, including Cisco Catalyst Center, Identify Services, Engine, and Wireless LAN controllers. Work with system administrators and engineers to resolve complex issues to support the delivery of network services and capabilities
Provide technical input to assist in determining requirements for technological advancements. Assist with planning and developing a rapid incident response system to thwart cyber security events. Assist in the design, implementation, and implementation of security technical implementation guides to ensure compliance of network components. Evaluate and respond to network incidents and perform corrective actions. Support change management processes
Review security information and event management (SEIM) tools to discover and resolve network events. Perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations or corrective actions
Provide technical input as requested for the Agency network accreditations. This includes preparing input into the CONOPS, SSAAs, and other documentation that the Government requires to accredit various legacy and emerging systems and networks
Qualification
Required
Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret clearance
Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required
Security + CE or higher and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification with Enterprise Core or Wireless specialty
Minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in Cisco networks; including design, configuring, and installing enterprise wired and wireless networks
Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and monitoring network systems, hardware, and software applications, including, but not limited to switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, routing protocols, and network appliances
Implementation of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure compliance of network components
Implementing, managing, and configuring complex network environments, including routing, switching, and wireless technologies
Reviewing security information and event management (SEIM) tools to discover and resolve network events
Proficiency in advanced routing protocols like EIGRP and OSPF, as well as switching technologies
Understanding and implementing SDN technologies like SD-Access and SD-WAN
Planning, designing, and implementing both local and wide-area enterprise networks
Working with Department of Defense teams to support project objectives
Knowledge and proficiency to work (including, but not limited to): Hardware: Network switches (CISCO Nexus series 7000/9000 and Cisco Catalyst series); Cisco routers (CISCO 4551, 8500), Cisco wireless access points (9000 series), Aruba wireless access points (AP275, 375, 515). Software: Cisco Wireless LAN controller (WLC), Solar Winds, Cisco ISE, Cisco Catalyst Center (aka DNA), Splunk and Aruba Wireless LAN controller
Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline AND four years of experience as described above; OR seven (7) years of relevant experience as described above
