Director of Data Centers - Mission Critical Services

Responsibilities
Lead multiple program opportunities and deployments across data center and central office projects
Serve as the primary customer-facing operations leader, ensuring exceptional customer service, responsiveness, and satisfaction
Source, staff, and manage large technical teams while ensuring SLA compliance
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific protocols across all operations
Oversee budget planning, forecasting, and capacity management
Oversee resource allocation and utilization, ensuring optimal deployment of personnel, equipment, and materials
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including estimating, sales, and project management
Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships to ensure alignment with Company standards, budgets, and timelines
Monitor project delivery metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) tailored to mission critical environments (data centers, central offices, etc.)
Drive operational improvement initiatives and ensure best practices are implemented
Champion innovation and technology adoption to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability in mission critical operations
Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams
Other duties as assigned
Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the Company’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee concerns, and partnering with Human Resources to resolve escalated employee matters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university
Ten years of operations leadership in data center or mission-critical infrastructure
Proven ability to manage nationwide or multi-site operations and large technical teams
Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering high-value, high-stakes projects on time and within budget
Previous P&L or division level budget ownership
Strong understanding of SLA compliance and quality management
Experience building operational frameworks, SOPs, and best practices
Experience with cross-functional collaboration in sales, estimating, and project management
Experience negotiating and managing large vendor and subcontractor contracts
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
Strong knowledge of data center and critical infrastructure systems
Proficiency in project management software
Proficiency with and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization's ERP system
Working knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA codes, and other regulatory frameworks
Proficiency with data analysis tools and dashboards for tracking KPIs and operational performance
Ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and reliability
Exceptional leadership and team development skills with the ability to inspire and motivate large technical teams
Strong customer relationship management and negotiation skills
Strategic thinker with proven ability to align operations with broader business objectives
Highly analytical and results oriented, with the ability to drive operational performance and efficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to executives, customers, and field teams
Problem-solving mindset with agility in dynamic, high-pressure environments
Experience with employee relations, team development, and performance management
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
Ability to travel nationwide up to 50% of the time as required for project oversight and customer meetings
Ability to walk construction sites, data center facilities, including climbing stairs and navigating uneven surfaces
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally (e.g., documents, equipment samples, laptops, etc.)
Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods (6–8 hours per day)
Comfortable working in varied environments, including office settings, outdoor job settings, and mission-critical facilities with strict safety protocols
May be required to work irregular or extended hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs
