$20/hr - $20/hrNEOGOV is seeking a Purchasing Intern to gain hands-on experience in municipal procurement and public finance. The role involves assisting the Purchasing Division with day-to-day operations, vendor registration, data analysis, policy review, and process improvement.

Responsibilities
Assist with bid processes, requests for quotes (RFQs), and vendor registration efforts
Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and record retention functions, including oversight of Certificates of Insurance
Contact potential vendors to increase registration and ensure information accuracy
Review requisitions for completeness and compliance under the supervision of the Purchasing Agent
Assist with purchasing card administration, vendor database maintenance, and contract file management
Conduct research and compile information for purchasing staff
Participate in departmental meetings and provide recommendations for process improvements
Support compliance efforts with federal, state, and local purchasing laws
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to research, analyze, and present findings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and the public
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
A valid Texas driver's license may be required
Preferred
Preferred fields of study include Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
Experience in customer service, vendor coordination, office administration, or procurement-related tasks is a plus, but not required
Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), are preferred
