Senior Lecturer and Executive Director of MSCEP

UChicago Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth is seeking a Senior Lecturer and Executive Director of MSCEP to manage and teach in a new Masters of Science Degree in Climate and Energy Policy. The role focuses on overseeing the curriculum, developing capstone courses, and teaching, while also managing staff and engaging with external partners.

Responsibilities

Oversee the MSCEP curriculum’s evolution, refinement, and course design, in collaboration with the faculty director
Develop and implement the degree’s capstone course, which will include projects that students execute in collaboration with external partners
Teach 4 for-credit, quarter-length courses (including sections of the capstone course), policy labs, or pedagogical equivalent per academic year. Courses may be in the MSCEP and/or other degree programs offered by the School. Courseload may be reduced in the first two years of the program, given the expected intensity of program development during these years
Recommend for hire, supervise, and evaluate part-time Lecturers and full-time Instructional Professors who teach in the MSCEP or in other Harris courses that cover energy, climate, or environmental topics
Assist the faculty director, and Harris and ICSG leadership, in overseeing MSCEP staff and budget, and raising external awareness
Design and oversee the execution of extra-curricular student experiences, coordinating with Harris and ICSG staff
Work with Harris and ICSG staff on developing and executing a strategy for career development in climate and energy

Required

Completion of a graduate degree, by the appointment start date, in Economics, Business, Climate Science, Environmental Science, Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Data Science, or a closely related field
Experience in management of programs, personnel, and/or budgets

Preferred

At least two years of teaching experience as the instructor of record in courses in fields in energy, climate change, public policy, economics, political science, data science, or related fields
Experience or academic background in energy and climate change issues
PhD in Economics, Business, Climate Science, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Political Science, Data Science, or a closely related field
