Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area (e.g. Diagnostic, Breast Imaging, Stony Point, CT/MRI, 3D lab) to include STAR Service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal responsibility
Ensures that all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified and competent staff, are of the highest quality achievable and follow the radiation safety principles of ALARA, ACR Guidelines for imaging practices, and ACR Guidelines for MRI Safety, if applicable
Ensure compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures
Works directly with lead technologists and front line staff to solve problems and reduce barriers to success
Maintains technical competency in all areas of responsibility
Implements new initiatives, programs and policies
Works collaboratively with other Radiology Supervisors, Managers, Faculty and staff to ensure a high level departmental safety, quality, and teamwork
Reports to the Modality Manager and is responsible for the clinical functions and processes for assigned Radiology area
Through lead technologists and staff, responsible and accountable for the daily clinical operation of the assigned sections by ensuring the highest level of operational excellence while ensuring safety, efficient, high quality and cost effective care
Supervises, oversees, maintains and improves business functions and processes related to his/her areas of responsibility
Develops staff education and competencies including educational materials, competency forms, etc
Provides education to assigned team, students, residents, and other learners

Required

Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) required for Diagnostic Supervisor
Plus one of the following specialty registries that is directly related to their department: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT CT or MRI required for 3D lab supervisor, (CI) Cardiac Interventional Radiography, (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
Minimum of one (1) year of Lead Tech radiologic technology experience
Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT
All day to day workflow coordination and team supervision
All team members in assigned modality report to this position; day to day workflow responsibilities may be delegated as appropriate
Weekend and other after hours coverage may be required based on workload demand and teaming needs
Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs
Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances
Individuals can not designate a specific lunch break time. Lunch breaks are assigned by supervisory team

Preferred

Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience
Experience performing in a leadership role
Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or closely related field from an accredited program is strongly preferred
Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited program is preferred
