Responsibilities

Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure

Helps to ensure patient safety and quality of care by performing various tasks and duties that provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff and personnel during and in the turnover of surgical procedures

Specializes in multiple surgical services lines and potentially works with neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients

Qualification

Surgical technology programBasic Cardiac Life SupportCertified Surgical TechnologistTechnologist in Surgery - CertifiedVisual color acuity screening

Required

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Visual color acuity screening depending on the role in specific units

Must hold American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)

Preferred

Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Technologist in Surgery- Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
