Clinical Histology Tech II (FGP) *Manhattan, Overnight shift*

The Clinical Histology Tech II is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination and performing various histologic procedures. This role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment and training on new laboratory technologies.

Responsibilities
Performs the following routine histologic procedures: Accessioning Grossing/Wrapping of specimens Embedding procedures Section techniques involving hematoxylin and eosin Routine special staining such as demonstration of mucopolysaccharides tissue fibers pigments infectious organisms like bacteria and fungi Cover Slipping Slide documentation
Performs other duties as assigned
Trains in the use of new laboratory equipment
Helps maintain laboratory equipment
Preparation of solutions required for any histological examination
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree from an approved clinical laboratory technician program
High school degree accepted only if the individual has the designated experience defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway defined by NYS
Six months of experience in a histology laboratory
Certification by the NYS Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Certified Histological Technician
Preferred
BS/BA in Science preferred
American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification as a Histology Technician ASCP HT preferred
