AXA XL is a leading provider in the field of E&S technical pricing and portfolio management. They are seeking a highly driven, credentialed actuary to provide decision-making guidance throughout the underwriting process and support technical pricing and portfolio management capabilities.

Responsibilities

Provide decision making guidance throughout the entire underwriting process, using advanced analytics to drive superior business performance
Support and enhance technical pricing and portfolio management capabilities for E&S lines including the development, testing, and calibration of pricing models and dashboards alongside Models team
Portfolio management activities including selection of base loss ratio for business planning, profitability studies & deep dives, dashboard maintenance, and post-event loss evaluation
Account case pricing and effectively communicating selections to underwriters
Regular metrics reporting such as the monthly renewal price monitor
Reinsurance support as needed, including data calls and treaty analysis as needed
Conduct training for underwriters regarding actuarial models and methodologies
Ensure compliance with pricing guidelines and help drive appropriate consistency in pricing

Required

Qualification level – Actuarial accreditation; ACAS or near-ACAS preferred
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field
Relevant work experience in non-life insurance pricing
Very good attention to detail
Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate or handle large datasets; technical aptitude with some computer programming experience preferred
Proficiency with Excel and Access required; Experience in using R, Python, Shiny apps, Emblem, SQL, Qlikview or other programming languages in a commercial environment
Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure as well as delivering to deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and apply critical thinking and creativity to solve problems
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and part of a team
Strong verbal communications skills to gain buy-in to communicate clearly and concisely with underwriters and colleagues from other function
Excellent written communication skills and collaborative work ethic
