Senior VDC (BIM) Specialist

They are seeking a Senior VDC (BIM) Specialist to lead a team in creating detailed Building Information Models for plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems, ensuring project deadlines are met and quality standards maintained.

Responsibilities

Lead and support a group of skilled VDC Specialists at a project level to ensure project deadlines are met
Support project team within the VDC Group at a project level
Construction document management
Communication with internal project team
Ensure the BIM team has current project related information
Work with engineers and managers to produce LOD400 BIM for mechanical and plumbing systems
Work with General Contractor and other subcontractors to achieve spatial coordination of all trades
Attend weekly coordination meetings, either onsite or virtually, to achieve spatial coordination of all trades
Generate RFI’s to be submitted to the design team when required
Create detailed shop drawings for the purposes of fabrication and installation of associated trades
Creation and annotation of shop drawings
Creation and annotation of hanger drawings
Creation and annotation of sleeve drawings
Creation and export of hanger and sleeve coordinates to be utilized by the robotic total station layout team for field layout
Communicate with field personnel, when required, to ensure that fabrication and installation intent is clearly communicated on shop and spool drawings
Mentor and train VDC team members
On the job training on the use of modelling and collaboration software
On the job training on the creation of fabrication and installation drawings and documents
Work with other team members to complete drawings and models as required to meet project schedules
Maintain training and continued education for incumbent and team to continually improve accuracy and productivity
Provide Input to management regarding both hardware and software requirements to perform duties
Responsible for enhancing the communication between functional business partners
May participate in job interviews to speak to the capabilities of the VDC team

Required

5 or more years of experience with installation of mechanical or plumbing systems
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP and Autodesk Navisworks
Proficiency in other BIM software is a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and ability to be trained in use of the Company-specific applications and software
Leadership skills to lead a project team within the group to meet project requirements
Ability to read, comprehend and interpret project schedules (Gant charts)
Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical literature/writing and plans
Ability to define problems, assess options and make appropriate recommendations
Ability to distinguish between shades of color
Competence in public speaking/presentations
Self-driven desire to learn, become competent, and succeed in field
Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to train and mentor
