QC Lab Manager, Cathode Lab

5+ years expTesla is seeking a highly energetic and experienced QC Lab Manager to lead a team of lab technicians at the newly built cathode production facility in Gigafactory Texas, Austin. The manager will oversee all laboratory operations, including the organization of daily tasks, equipment calibration, troubleshooting, analytical testing prioritization, and data reporting.

Responsibilities
Assign responsibilities to manage testing, inspection, and release of materials from the QC lab
Provide coaching and training to technicians on lab safety and operations
Lead 5S and efficiency improvement initiatives in the lab
Drive test method development, validation, and optimization to ensure accurate and precise data reporting
Provide regular reports and updates to the quality team and management on quality issues, lab achievements, and challenges
Coordinate with quality engineers, production, prototype, and pilot labs for alignment on priority testing, test methods, and tech transfer
Qualification
Required
Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant scientific field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing quality control environment with a team of 10 or more
Hands-on experience with chemical characterization and operation/troubleshooting of relevant equipment (ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, SEM, PSA, BET, etc.)
Proficiency in concepts such as SPC, process capability, PFMEA, control plans, LIMS, Six Sigma, RCA, and Gage R&R
Command of the English language, both written and verbal
Stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs., and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in varying temperatures and environments
Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and kneel as needed
Ability to wear PAPR and work extended hours inside the lab
Preferred
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or IATF 16949 standards is a plus
