Senior Pipeline Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (Minneapolis)

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to oversee pipeline engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. The role involves leading the creation of pipeline design deliverables and managing projects ranging from small utility distribution upgrades to large transmission projects.

Responsibilities

Lead in the execution of engineering activities
Pipeline design including plans, profiles, details and associated bill of materials
Pipeline facility design (metering and regulating stations, storage field upgrades, and compressor stations) including plans, sections, and details and associated bill of materials
Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition
Calculations for studies and reports
Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development, including
Conceptual designs and execution plans
Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
Lead coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Pipeline Facilities, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, etc.)
Develop and improve processes, tools and/or factory acceptance testing
Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
Provide short term field support during construction
Support business development and marketing initiatives

Required

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years pipeline engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years pipeline engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
Master Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 6 years pipeline engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, ATF)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
Ability to travel

Preferred

EPC project experience preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred
