Senior Engineer Structural Analysis – Sheet Metal Enclosures

Charles Industries, an Amphenol Company, is seeking a Senior Engineer Structural Analysis for Sheet Metal Enclosures. This role involves leading program-level designs and prototype fabrications for complex enclosure solutions, managing multiple projects, and ensuring product design conformance to established criteria.

Responsibilities

Lead projects from concept through to launch
Provide technical support in metal structural part design and processing
Draw and design package preparation and release
Develop requirements and analyze product design data to determine conformance to established design selection criteria, standardized parts and equipment use, and design-to-cost practices
Maintain and upgrade existing products
Establish test plans and execute 3rd party certifications
Lead the development and testing of prototypes for new product ideas and create product specifications
Create and maintain project development plans and create and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and redesign existing products
Generate and release full bills of material for manufacturing
Identify non-conformances and root causes to initiate and implement solutions
Participate in Risk management activities to ensure that design and process related needs are identified and appropriately addressed
Assist in other duties as required

Ability to identify problems that need resolution, propose solutions, and escalate as needed
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least 10 years of experience in sheet metal and structural sheet design
Knowledge of welding (MIG, TIG, Spot, Plasma, Laser)
FEA experience (stress, creep, compression, etc.) using CREO Simulate or Ansys required
Familiarity with Telcordia Seismic design and analysis
Familiarity with ASCE 07 Wind and snow loading design and analysis
Familiarity with industry standards including: Telcordia Specification, ASME, ASCE, etc. and the testing is required
Understanding of Product Life Cycle Management
At least 5 years of CREO/Windchill experience is desired
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred

A master's in mechanical engineering is preferred
ASME or ASCE member preferred
Knowledge of MS Project and Visio desired
Experience with another 3D CAD system will be considered
