Responsibilities

Work with each department to ensure planning is optimized and there is efficient use of all resources at the mine
Identify and implement continuous improvement (CI) strategies targeting safety, reliability, and cost savings
Timely escalation of belt issues that impact safety of people or production to the General Mine Coordinator and senior leadership
Ensure effective project management of major overhaul and repair equipment including planning, implementation, and budgeting
Organize unforeseen mine outages by ensuring downtime work is being managed and structured effectively to maximize the downtime
Life of Mine strategic planning, equipment lifecycle management, and project requirements
Ensure all major maintenance outages and projects have a clear scope of work, project schedule (Gantt chart), forecast costing, quality assurance procedures, and commissioning documentation
Manages belt personnel and performs effective belt audits to insure accurate and proper procedures and measures are being utilized to control, monitor, record, and report performance data for all belt, actual production, cost, and performance data for all mining and reclamation activities at the mine

Required

Minimum of 10-12 years of underground coal mining belt system experience is required
Minimum 10-12 years of supervisory experience
High level of understanding MSHA regulations and Mechanical and Electrical Codes of Practice required
Thorough knowledge of state and federal mining regulations
Experience with Microsoft Office
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Must be willing to work any shift and respond to emergency calls at any time
Ability to communicate with personnel on shift and adjacent shifts
Experience in Planning and Execution Techniques
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces
Ability to be seated up to 4 hours to operate equipment
Ability to walk up to 4 hours at a time and through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
Walking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required by MSHA
Ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other PPE required by Company and MSHA
Ability to climb up and down stairs and on and off equipment and ladders
Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle) and rapid reflex movements of arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination
Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds
Ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree preferred
Current electrical card preferred
Alabama Mine Foreman Certification preferred
Knowledge of SAP and Kronos preferred
PLC programming preferred
Previous supervisor skills involving scheduling of manpower and equipment resources, and employee performance management
