Project Scientist-Geologist

They are seeking a Project Scientist/Geologist to assist clients with informed decision-making regarding projects and contaminated site management while building professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Conduct site reconnaissance and municipal, state, and federal file reviews in support of due diligence projects and reports
Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Preliminary Assessments
Develop summary tables and site plans/drawings and other supporting documents as appropriate
Prepare project documents including borings logs, test pit logs, daily field logs, chains-of-custody, site sketches, etc. in a manner consistent with Pinchin standard operating procedures
Develop draft report(s), letters, work plans, etc. in concert with other project team members
Assist with regulatory agency submittals, including permit application, forms, and remedial phase reports
Conduct field investigations, including but not limited to overburden and bedrock drilling programs, test pitting, well gauging, ground water sampling/surveying, soil sampling, sub-slab soil gas sampling, and indoor air sampling
Oversee subcontractors to ensure work is conducted timely, within project scope, and with project budget
Follow site safety protocols and bring issues/concerns to project manager in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
3-8 years of experience with an environmentally oriented company; may include internships
Familiarity with field equipment for field investigations and assessments
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and draw conclusions from scientific data
Excellent research and writing skills, including the ability to present scientific and technical data in a succinct, meaningful way for client reports
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to keep project managers apprised of issues and concerns in a timely manner
Frequent daily travel to job sites and work that is conducted in variable weather conditions
Valid driver's license and ability to drive to job sites (typically no more than 1 hour away)
Willingness to work over 40 hours/week for field assignments as the need arises
Ability to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to pass a company physical
