Responsibilities
Conduct specialized research on case law, statutes, regulations, and executive orders relevant to the IC and national security
Produce clear, actionable legal products to support IC decision-making
Provide accurate, timely guidance on intelligence-related legal issues
Review documents for legal sufficiency, privilege, FOIA, and Privacy Act exemptions
Recommend appropriate redactions for different audiences and flag sensitive intelligence sources/methods for possible exemption
Track compliance and manage cases in line with IC-specific legal and regulatory frameworks
Support discovery, ensuring adherence to protocols for handling CUI and classified information
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD)
0–15+ years of experience in national security, intelligence, or government legal research (multi-discipline levels available)
Expertise in FISA, EO 12333, Privacy Act, and FOIA frameworks
Strong analytical, writing, and document review skills
Preferred
Experience supporting ODNI, IC, or DoD legal operations
Familiarity with discovery protocols in classified or sensitive environments
