Associate/Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity - Fall 2026

The University of Southern Maine is seeking an Associate or Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity to begin in Fall 2026. This tenure-track position involves teaching a three-three course-load, advising students, and conducting research in the Cybersecurity program within the Department of Technology.

Responsibilities

Teach a three-three course-load with a combination of online and in-person courses
Advance scholarly activities
Advise students
Provide services that support students in the Cybersecurity program at both undergraduate and graduate levels
Potential courses include security operations, penetration testing, digital forensics, cyber-law, cryptography, system security, network security, and project management
Student mentoring, cybersecurity internships, thesis advising, capstone experiences, and student portfolios
Pass a background check to serve as a liaison between the University and the information security community
Work closely with employers to meet local workforce needs
Student academic advising
Engage in university, department and community committees and other kinds of service
Conduct research and scholarship activities

Required

An earned Doctorate in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field, by time of employment (candidates who are ABD at the time of application will be considered)
At least one year of additional business, industry, governmental experiences, and/or prior teaching experience, or professional certifications is required
