Responsibilities
Communicate with customers to understand all requirements provided on drawings and specifications
Work with engineering and production to find creative and inventive ways of using factory machine tools to produce custom products efficiently and cost effectively
Estimate labor hours and material costs to perform scope of work
Coordinate with outside vendors or subcontractors to prepare estimates on aspects of a job Northern does not fabricate in-house
Drive continuous improvements of the estimating process to improve accuracy and reduce effort
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
Relevant work experience with detailed knowledge of industry processes, materials, and costs
3D CAD experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Strong attention to details that may impact a project's overall cost
Analytical skills, ability to accurately evaluate detailed specifications to determine how to minimize costs without sacrificing quality
Trouble shooting skills with a solution-focused approach to projects
Time-management skills, ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
