They are seeking a Marine Engineering Forensic Expert to investigate incidents in the maritime industry, analyze equipment and procedures, and provide expert testimony.

Responsibilities
Investigate incidents in both the commercial maritime industry as well as the recreational boating community
Analyze maritime equipment and procedures, applying your comprehensive knowledge of standards and practices, to determine incident causes and timelines
Write clear, scientifically sound reports
Provide expert testimony
Delve into the 'why' behind incidents, critically assessing decision-making, operational procedures, and the standard of care
Investigate incidents like collisions, fires, explosions, personal injuries, industrial accidents, product failure, cargo, etc
Investigate issues related to cargo, insurance, marine facilities, and compliance with international and national rules and codes
Qualification
Required
You have an Engineering degree from an accredited university
You have a P.E. license or an E.I.T. license and can obtain P.E. licensure in at least one state within 6 months
You have 15+ years of maritime experience with 10+ years of hands-on work experience
You can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
You have excellent technical and analytical skills
You have strong written and verbal communication skills
You are willing to travel about 20% on average
You have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive
Candidates must pass a drug, background, and reference check
Preferred
Your USCG credential is preferred
Prior forensic experience is not required. We seek professionals eager to apply their deep industry knowledge to a challenging new domain
