Responsibilities
Works under direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to prepare sleep studies, support patients with positive airway pressure related issues, and conduct polysomnogram scoring
Is responsible for home sleep study logistics. Sets up and scores home sleep testing devices
Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs
Determines final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols
Explains procedures and orients the patient for sleep testing
Selects appropriate equipment and calibrates for testing to determine accurate functioning and make adjustments, if vital; applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
Performs data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies, corrects and documents artifacts. Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results
Performs patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing
Qualification
Required
Credentialed in sleep technology
Ability to work under direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician
Experience in preparing sleep studies and conducting polysomnogram scoring
Responsible for home sleep study logistics
Ability to collect, analyze, and integrate patient information
Ability to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director
Ability to explain procedures and orient the patient for sleep testing
Ability to select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing
Ability to perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality
Ability to identify, correct, and document artifacts
Ability to document routine observations and significant events
Ability to perform patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing
