Responsibilities
Lead our growing Search Serving Platform organization
Deliver low-latency, highly-relevant, and reliable search experience for all Atlassian users across all surfaces
Power scalable runtime systems, query orchestration, and robust serving infrastructure
Inspire your teams, distributed across geographies, to achieve world-class engineering and operational standards
Help define and drive our long term technical strategy for cutting edge search
Qualification
Required
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience
12+ years of experience developing large scale distributed systems
8+ years of experience managing software development teams driving large projects with complex dependencies and multiple stakeholders
2+ years of experience leading teams running search systems at scale
Preferred
Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-group/cross-discipline collaboration
Experience managing managers and a track record of scaling global organizations with 50+ engineers. Experience working with and leading teams across geographies
You will demonstrate defining and communicating a long-term technical vision and inspiring your team around a shared vision for success. Given the high rate of innovation in search, you will keep yourself updated with the latest technological breakthroughs and provide active guidance to your teams
You will be able to build a deep understanding of both business and engineering metrics and drive a culture of reliability, security and productivity
You will champion developer productivity and empower engineers to invest in the right tooling at the right time
Ability to hire, onboard, and retain top talent for your team and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members
You will have strong empathy and a bias for action
Quick learner who thrives in an ambiguous environment
