Responsibilities
Researches, develops, design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved
Prepares engineering drawings or specifications to construct, relocate, or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems
Prepares documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance
Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met
Produces products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means
Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components
Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, high-voltage wire communication systems and servomechanisms
Includes circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid state devices, and video systems
Mentor product leaders and engineers in design and development practices at both hardware and systems-levels
Some domestic travel may be required
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Experience with VLF to MF (3 kHz to 3 MHz) RF hardware design. One or more of the following: RF Power Amplifiers, Transceivers, or Antenna design at the board or module sub-system design
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S citizens are eligible for a security clearance
The ability to train and mentor early-career engineers
Good communication skills and the ability to tailor to audience at all levels
Preferred
Active DoD security clearance
Experience with new architecture development
Experience with pre-CAD circuit design, including schematic capture, power, FPGA resource utilization, background knowledge of PWB stacks ups
Experience in industry design tools, i.e. Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, etc
Experience with mixed signal design. One or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs, A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
Experience with RF hardware design. One or more of the following: RF Power Amplifiers, Transceivers, or Antenna design at the board or module sub-system design
Ability to communicate with vendors requirements and specifications to facilitate the quote and design of new hardware
Electronics design with recent experience in 3U VPX (VITA 67) and/or SOSA hardware, including understanding backplane topologies, slot and module profiles of 3U VPX card sets
5+ years' experience developing products and systems
Experience in designing RF board and module-level subsystems
TEMPEST design experience
Experience with VLF/LF transmitter and receiver design
Working knowledge of EMI/EMC standards for military applications
Experience designing for Military Aircraft applications
Experience using ALM tools including Jira and Confluence
Experience working with industry standard toolsets for requirement capture and task management (e.g. DOORs, Microsoft Project)
Experience in developing test procedures and test fixtures
Ability to read, create and review engineering drawings including schematics, assembly drawings and parts lists
Experience interfacing to digital circuitry with high-speed A/D and D/A conversion
Experience with implementation of high-speed backplanes
Experience with Siemens Xpedition tool suite
Proven analytical skills using in circuit simulation (Matlab, ADS, SPICE, HFSS)
Experience with CAM (Cost Account Management) duties
