FL - Sr Financial Accountant

The Senior Financial Accountant I will perform professional accounting work including financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance, while supporting organizational accounting operations and assisting with audits.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Develop detailed reconciliations, schedules, work papers, and note disclosures for financial reporting
Review and analyze general ledger and sub-ledger reports for accuracy and compliance
Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Assist in preparing documentation for external audits
Contribute to the development of annual comprehensive financial reports and related statements
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, and procedures
Review work prepared by junior accounting staff and provide guidance as needed
Actively participate in the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g., GASB)
Maintain professional knowledge by attending trainings, seminars, or reviewing professional publications
Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal staff, external agencies, and stakeholders
Perform related duties as assigned

Required

Knowledge of governmental or large-scale organizational accounting and auditing practices
Strong understanding of accounting systems, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
Proficiency in accounting software and financial database management
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills for preparing financial statements, reports, and presentations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
At least 4 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience, or a Master's degree in a related field with at least 2 years of experience

Preferred

Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Experience applying Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards
Supervisory experience with reviewing and mentoring accounting staff
