Civil/Water Resources Project Engineering Specialist

STV is seeking a Civil/Water Resources Project Engineering Specialist for their Raleigh, NC office in the Transportation & Infrastructure division. The role involves delivering innovative drainage designs, preparing technical reports, and providing professional design services for transportation improvement projects while coordinating permitting and participating in project meetings.

Responsibilities

Assist in delivering innovative, quality drainage designs on primarily Alternative Delivery projects in NC and the Southeast
Use hydrologic and hydraulic design software such as OpenRoads Designer (StormCAD), HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
Use CADD and mapping software including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS
Prepare various technical reports in support of transportation project drainage designs
Produce quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies
Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, stormwater BMPs, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control
Coordinate permitting through various water management districts including NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities
Participate in project meetings with client teams
Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
Establish working relationships with internal disciplines and project managers within STV

Required

B.S. in Engineering
0-5 years of experience of Water Resources Engineering / Transportation Drainage Design- design of storm drain systems, culverts, storm water management facilities, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, environmental permitting, and cost estimating
Strong attention to detail with tendency to self-check work prior to formal QC
Strong inter-personal skills for client interaction and collaboration with other engineering disciplines

Preferred

M.S. in Engineering is a plus
Experience working with NCDOT and other NC municipalities is desired
Ability to obtain an NC PE License preferred
