Senior Fire Protection Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection engineering design on various projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities
Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects
Ability to determine the scope of assigned fire protection project, review and interpret construction documents, applicable codes, and utilize software programs to create the engineering designs based on the interpretation of project plans and submittals/specifications of contract documents
Ability to determine cost-effective fire sprinkler and fire alarm system layouts, quantities, and specifications; select and schedule equipment with limited oversight
Knowledge of code compliance of the fire protection systems and the building design
Physically able to conduct field inspections and analysis to upgrade and correct existing system problems
Performs accurate, legible and well thought out design calculations
Coordinates Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines; highlighting design components that will impact the other discipline's design so that the overall design is constructable without conflict
Attends project kick off meetings and coordination meetings
Works independently with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative
Performs assigned tasks in accordance with company QC procedures
May supervise and review the work of other team members assigned to the project team. Delegates work to junior team members
Communicates with clients as needed and defined by project
Develops and maintains positive customer and client relationships to foster repeat business
Contacts clients and/or contractors as needed on specific jobs
Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work
Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
Qualification
Required
8+ years of related fire protection engineering experience (internship and professional experience included)
PE license (or passage of the PE exam)
Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps
