Fire Protection Designer

Responsibilities

Developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects
Leading the planning, design, and commissioning of building fire protection systems
Coordinating with other support disciplines and regional offices
Assisting fire protection engineers in the design of building projects
Following quality assurance and quality control plans
Interfacing with project teams on project design, delivery, and construction
Managing project budget and schedule compliance
Fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase
Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
Utilizing software based calculation tools for design calculations
Managing multiple assignments concurrently
Being responsible for time management and product quality
Following Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
Being responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team

Required

5-10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience
Must have a knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs
Proven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
Must have strong communication and team collaboration skills
Experience with Autodesk Revit
Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
Interfacing with project teams on project design, delivery, and construction
Managing project budget and schedule compliance
Fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase
Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
Utilize software based calculation tools for design calculations
Manage multiple assignments concurrently

Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team

Preferred

NICET certification in Fire Protection
Experience with AIA MasterSpec
Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
