STATIONARY ENGINEER
The California Department of State Hospitals is seeking a Permanent, Full Time Stationary Engineer I for Patton State Hospital. The role involves providing exceptional customer service while operating and maintaining various mechanical and electrical equipment within the facility operations department.

Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

Install, operate and make repairs to various types of equipment
Make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications
Lay out work for others and direct them in this work
Analyze situations accurately and take effective action
Bend, reach, ascend stairs, slopes, and inclines; work at heights applicable to trade demands; and labor in the outdoors in all weather conditions
Qualification
Required
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing good interpersonal skills
Dependable, able to follow directions and complete assigned tasks
Ability to work well with others and promote and maintain positive and effective work relationships
Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the engineering trade
Current knowledge of relevant CalOSHA safety orders and California Building Standards Codes
Ability to follow oral and written direction
Demonstrate mechanical ability
Keep accurate records

Make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications
Lay out work for others and direct them in this work

Knowledge of boilers and auxiliary boiler room equipment
Knowledge of heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, building electric and pneumatic controls, water treatment and other mechanical or electrical equipment
Knowledge of the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of such equipment
Demonstrates knowledge of correct method used in reading blueprints
Knowledge of troubleshooting pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, electronic and refrigeration equipment
Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate use of operating a Steam Plant
Performing water treatment, settings of chemical feed pumps
Ordering chemicals, pump repair, reading instruments, firing of boilers
Awareness of Injury, Illness, Prevention Program
Read Material Safety Data Sheets, performs risk analysis before doing work
Demonstrates knowledge of the use of tools used in water, sewer, plumbing & steam piping repair
Possess EPA Universal 608 Certification
The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired
