PCC: ACCESSIBLE PROGRAMMING REPRESENTATIVE

AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides opportunities for individuals to serve their communities. The Accessible Programming Representative will advocate for and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities, particularly for veterans, while managing relationships with community partners and leading outreach programs.

Responsibilities

Build and manage relationships with Veteran service orgs, healthcare providers, and community partners to identify participants for outdoor recreation programs
Communicate program opportunities via phone and email
Promote programming to increase reach and impact
Deliver two public presentations on Easter Lake North Shore’s mission and inclusive recreation opportunities
Develop and lead two outdoor programs: one for Iowa Veterans to support well-being, and one to increase community-wide access to natural resources
Support and lead outreach and education events for partners and the public
Take photos (with consent) of participants for use on social media and the Polk County Conservation website
Engage in professional development and assess parks and trails to improve accessibility and diversity of use
Members may also participate in other approved AmeriCorps activities aligned with program goals

Required

Some college education
Minimum age of 17
Ability to build and manage relationships with Veteran service organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners
Strong communication skills via phone and email
Ability to promote programming to increase reach and impact
Experience delivering public presentations
Ability to develop and lead outdoor programs
Experience supporting and leading outreach and education events
Ability to take photos of participants for social media and website use
Engagement in professional development
Ability to assess parks and trails to improve accessibility and diversity of use
Willingness to participate in other approved AmeriCorps activities aligned with program goals

Preferred

Experience in outdoor recreation programming
Familiarity with veteran services
Knowledge of public health and social services
Experience in community outreach
