Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager - Water Resources
Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is a leading Architectural and Engineering firm seeking an experienced water resources engineer for a full-time opportunity in their Austin office. The role involves providing senior oversight of stormwater projects and serving as a Subject Matter Expert in Fluvial Geomorphology, while also managing engineering analysis and design for public works infrastructure and transportation projects.

Responsibilities
Perform as a Fluvial Geomorphology Subject Matter Expert
Perform Project Management and Task Management duties for water resources projects
Perform business development activities
Manage hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting
Perform Quality Control reviews of a wide range of hydrology, hydraulics, scour, and geomorphic projects
Mentor EIT, PE, and Project Management staff regarding hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic theory and practice
Conduct site visits and document findings
Write and coordinate preparation of graphic materials for presentations and documents
Undertakes Project Manager responsibilities for major projects ($2.0+ million annual billing)
Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects
Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client)
Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects
Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients
Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm
Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and is responsible for assigned portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy
Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations
Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff
Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Must be a Licensed Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas
Minimum 20 years of experience, with expertise in Fluvial Geomorphology highly desired
Strong civil engineering technical skills
Good communication and leadership skills
Good with clients, experience in business development and proposal preparation
