Responsibilities

Oversee engineering of efficient, scalable, and high-quality systems upon which world-class lighting products can easily be built
Ensure a high standard of quality in your own work and in the work of your team members via good design practices, process improvements, world class safety, smart testing and review practices
Mentor and coach colleagues to expand the effectiveness of those around you
Lead by example; take a hands-on role in helping your team meet its deliverables
Champion clear, concise communication of technical information backed by deep fundamental understanding of the underlying principles
Identify cost reduction and product improvement opportunities
Ensure effective use of 3D modeling, FEA, tolerance analysis, DFM, FMEA to meet project goals. Rapidly iterate through the design process to arrive at a solution that meets cost, quality and delivery objectives while meeting key product specifications
Work closely with our purchasing team and vendors to source and qualify production tooling
Collaborate with team members in our manufacturing facilities to introduce new products and components
Identify, propose, and implement improvements to the tools, equipment, and lab space to ensure the effectiveness of mechanical engineering function in the office

Required

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Science
Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all degrees earned
12+ years of industry experience in the field of mechanical product design. Experience with high-quality, high-volume consumer products is a plus
Experience in the supervision and development of other engineers, including engineers outside the mechanical engineering discipline
Experience leading others through the technical design aspects of an engineering project
Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals (beam bending, static analysis, material properties, heat transfer, etc.)
Familiarity and hands-on experience with various manufacturing processes including injection molding, stamping, forming, extrusion, and machining
Experience communicating with teams across multiple locations is a plus
