Epic Health Information Exchange Analyst

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary contact in the development and functionality of the Epic system/applications enabling the secure exchange of patient information
Develop Epic application solutions by investigating processes to understand data and communication flows with individual tasks and transactions
Fulfill multiple roles throughout the development, implementation, management, and ongoing support of Virginia Hospital Center’s comprehensive information exchange strategies
Gain knowledge of the Epic software and familiarize with hospital operations and workflow with community providers
Collaborate with multi-disciplined team members and leaders on the Epic project translating business needs into secure information exchange functionality
Provide consultation and coordinate design/build/testing/go-live activities for these information exchange applications
Have an in-depth understanding of workflows, policies and procedures, patient care/clinical business objectives, regulatory requirements and industry best practices for information exchange
Translate the business functionality into the Epic systems configuration and workflow
Provide application and technical support for these information exchange applications in addition to providing triage and troubleshooting to end users
Provide continual application evaluation, monitor the systems for data quality, efficiency, operation, and data integrity and appropriately escalate issues/problems
Provide system analysis, design, development, documentation, and configuration as well as testing and training of the product
Plan and prepare the Epic applications test scripts for application testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing
Provide standardization direction for the product aligning the application version and workflow with current standards
Gather and analyze user needs for developing and modifying applications in the healthcare environment under limited supervision
Analyze complex results, propose solutions and/or recommendations in addition to building, configuring and/or modifying the Epic information exchange applications using existing application tools
Provide complex application support, write documentation and specifications
Achieve in-depth knowledge of Epic System's Care Everywhere, EpicCare Link, and MyChart software and serve as a liaison between end users and Epic implementation staff
Conduct regular day-to-day communication with the Epic's installation team, review the software, analyze business operations, and work with Epic, other third party vendors, project team(s), business representatives, subject matter experts, and end users to tailor the system to fit the organization's needs
Perform in-depth analyses of workflows, data collection, report details/specifications, and assist with technical issues and develop and document the internal procedures that are used in conjunction with Epic’s applications, designs, builds, tests, installs and maintains those solutions
Evaluate and understand dependencies between applications to understand if making a change in one application would have a negative impact in another application
Have a thorough understanding of appropriate and secure patient information exchange strategies, patient/provider portals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a health, science, or business field, or an equivalent level of professional experience desired
1+ years industry related experience in an IS setting (Healthcare/Health Services, Information Services) or within applicable area in healthcare operations, with experience in information applications, including performing programming or applications analysis, or equivalent desired
1+ year EHR experience either as analyst or end user desired
Epic certification application specific to be obtained within six months
