Mechanical Engineer
UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support manufacturing projects. The role involves hands-on technical work, maintenance of equipment, and providing expertise in solving complex engineering problems.
Responsibilities
Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems
Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis
Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design improvement modifications and implementation of advanced technologies
Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed
Interface with government personnel
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
Proven ability to independently drive tasks and projects from concept to production
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks)
Experience with engineering drawings including GD&T, and design for manufacturing
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and producing components and systems
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across interdisciplinary teams
Technical writing skills, with experience authoring test plans, procedures, and detailed technical reports
Familiarity with researching and applying relevant military and commercial specifications and standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO)
Conceptual and/or practical experience with finite element analysis (FEA) methods to support mechanical design and evaluation
In the office up to 5 days per week as required with option for situational telework
Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level
US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location
Frequent walking, standing, and moving between workstations in the machine shop environment
Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds
Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment
