Heavy Motor Equipment Repairperson
The City of Boston is seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Repairperson who will be responsible for examining and locating mechanical defects in heavy and special motor equipment. The role involves disassembling and repairing equipment, maintaining records, and making repairs both on-site and in the garage.

Responsibilities
Disassembles, repairs, or replaces work parts; fits new parts and adjusts engines, oil, water, fuel pumps, carburetors, fuel injectors, etc
Operates welding equipment to fabricate, rebuild, and strengthen parts and pieces of equipment
Maintains records of time and materials used on each job
Adjusts and repairs air brakes, carburetors, hydraulic pumps, cylinder heads, valves, and similar components of all types of heavy motor equipment
Overhauls engines, transmissions, and ignition systems and replaces damaged parts
Answers road calls and makes repairs either at the road site or in the garage
Makes minor adjustments and repairs to all types of equipment
Must have the ability to use a wrecker truck for towing if necessary
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline engine-driven equipment or related work
CDL Class B license with an air brake endorsement and Hoisting Licenses must be obtained within six (6) months of appointment
Must have your own basic tools to repair or replace parts of gasoline and diesel-driven equipment within the first month of hire
Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job
A Valid MA Driver's License is required
Must be able to work any assigned shift
BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
