Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (NTT or TT) in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery

The University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking candidates for an open rank teaching professor in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery. The successful candidate will enhance referral caseload and train students in neurosurgery and neurology, while also participating in collaborative research and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Providing clinical instruction of students (professional), interns, and residents in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery utilizing the caseload of the VHC
Contributing to the professional and graduate curriculum by participating in classroom and laboratory instruction. Opportunities for online instruction are possible
Representing the University, College, and VHC through outreach activities for animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, or other relevant stakeholders
Providing consultation to off-site, university-operated clinics
Participation with other faculty and house officers in after-hours call
Participation in the discovery process by participating in collaborative research and graduate/house officer research
Participation in faculty governance activities

Qualification

Veterinary Medicine (DVM)Neurology CertificationNeurosurgery ResidencyTeaching ExperienceCommunication Skills

Required

A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc)
Diplomate status or eligibility for certification by either the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) or the European College of Veterinary Neurology, or completion of an approved neurology/neurosurgery residency training by appointment start date
Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri
Professional, residency and graduate training
Educational and professional achievement, career goals and the needs of the college
Communication skills, experience working effectively in diverse environments and letters of reference will also be considered in the selection of a successful candidate
Interest in practicing leading-edge medicine/surgery, who has a passion for teaching, and who may have potential to participate in multidisciplinary research and establish a sustainable research program
