They are seeking an Underwriting Intern to assist underwriting professionals in evaluating insurance applications and providing customer service while gaining knowledge in underwriting operations principles.

Responsibilities

Assist underwriters with reviewing and evaluating workers compensation insurance applications to determine acceptance or denial of risks to promote company profitability

Communicate with agents, brokers and policyholders to provide service and solutions to their underwriting and policy inquiries

Work closely with supervisor and trainers on assignments, and manage competing priorities to be accountable for delivering results

Demonstrate ownership of assignments to complete them within expected timelines, and communicate any issues preventing completion with your team lead, and participate in solutions to resolve and overcome the issues

Complete technical underwriting training to gain authority and other responsibilities

Learn about and use data analysis to identify opportunities for efficiencies in process and product

Display initiative to generate solutions in both every day work, as well as projects
