Sr. Project Manager & Structural Engineer

Responsibilities
Works with the VP of Engineering to provide project management and directs the structural design team to achieve departmental business goals and objectives
Provides project management support for multiple projects and advises and interfaces with project management and field operations personnel
Manages projects from inception to completion including proposal preparation and permitting phase and conceptual engineering to detail engineering and construction phase support
Provides interface with project team members, suppliers, customers, and others who are involved in project work to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the engineering services being requested
Leads efforts in preparation of the definition of project scopes and fees and preparation of project proposals
Leads the growth and development of our team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff
Applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assigned engineering projects
Performs structural engineering analysis and design of new and existing marine structures (bulkheads, sheet-pile walls, retaining walls, concrete wharves, and mooring/breasting dolphins)
Performs finite element structural modeling of marine structures (SAP or STAAD)
Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
Develops new techniques and/or improved processes for design projects
Provides technical advice on safe designs and construction
Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
Represents the Company at industry-wide conferences and symposiums
Secures and maintains excellent customer relations with clients and prospective clients
Monitors actual costs and complete current project(s), accounting for, services, labor, and other associated costs
Qualification
Required
BS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience
Prior work experience as a project manager and design engineer in the marine construction, heavy industrial or engineering design industries
Working knowledge of Project Engineering Standards

Ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of the business

Able to work out-of-town for extended periods of time

Ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately
Capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner during emergencies
Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another
Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time
Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs. as required
Adapting to extreme temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure
Being qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites
