Responsibilities

Works with the VP of Engineering and Engineering and Structural Design team to achieve departmental business goals and objectives
Leads the growth and development of our team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff
Interfaces with engineering and project team members and/or customer/client to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the engineering services being requested
Applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assigned engineering projects
Performs structural engineering analysis and design of new and existing marine structures (bulkheads, sheet-pile walls, retaining walls, concrete wharves, and mooring/breasting dolphins)
Performs finite element structural modeling of marine structures (SAP or STAAD)
Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
Develops new techniques and/or improved processes for design projects
Provides technical advice on safe designs and construction
Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
Prepares bid package proposals for upcoming engineering and project work
Represents the Company at industry-wide conferences and symposiums
Responsible and accountable for incumbent's own personal safety
Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with
Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed
Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so
Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations, or Company policies and procedures promptly and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so
Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.)

Required

BS Degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience
Working knowledge of Project Engineering Standards

Ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of the business
Effective communicator

Prior work experience in the marine construction, heavy industrial, or engineering design industries
